How the price is worked out
The calculator spreads every batch cost over the pieces you can actually sell, then adds your margin on top:
Price = true cost per piece ÷ (1 − margin)
With a 35% margin, a cookie that costs you 1.45 sells for 1.45 ÷ 0.65 = 2.23. Margin is not the same as markup: a 35% markup on the same cookie would give only 1.96, and your real margin would be 26%.
The step most people skip is their own time. If your hours are not in the cost, a price that looks profitable can still mean working for free. Read the full method in How to price baked goods: a 6-step formula.
Price every recipe, not just one
This calculator works with one batch total. Our spreadsheet costs each recipe from your real pack prices, handles cups and spoons, frostings as sub-recipes and big orders with a shopping list. Google Sheets and Excel.
